Jennifer Pack's PledgePage

I have just registered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s TEAM IN TRAINING to run the Runaway Train Half Marathon in Dallas Texas on April 18th 2004! Yes, that’s 13.1 really long miles. O.k., you can get up off the floor – I know this may be hard to believe. What have I gotten myself into – right? I’ve been asking myself the same question since I made this decision. So, what (or who) was it that put this crazy idea into my head??

What is TEAM IN TRAINING (TNT)? This program exists in order to raise funds to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood-related cancers. TNT participants physically train for 4-5 months under an experienced coach all while raising money to put toward this great cause.
These diseases strike some 107,900 Americans each year and kill 60,500.
Leukemia is the #1 cause of death in children between the ages of 1-15.
That is the bad news.
The good news is that the survival rate has risen from 4% in 1960 to 81% in the last decade.

So I still haven’t really answered your question. Why me? Well, the more I’ve learned about TNT & The Society, the more I’ve realized what an awesome program it really is! And what a better way to test its greatness than to join myself!!

And how am I really going to get through this?? In addition to the support of the coach, mentor (past TNT participant) staff, and team, I have received “honored hero’s” to run in honor of. My honored hero’s are Landry Chad Hoskins, Duncan Neus & Jeff Burks. I am also running in memory of my best friends friend Heather Jasso. The challenges I have yet to face are nothing compared to the challenges that Landry, Duncan, Jeff, their family & so many others face every day.

I am writing to each of you to ask for your support. Over 75% of my personal goal of $1,500 will go back to The Society for research, patient services, advocacy, & education! If you choose to contribute, please fill out the attached donation form and send it with your TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation back to me before January 30, 2003. Please know that NO DONATION IS TOO MUCH OR TOO LITTLE…..every bit helps! If you are unable to contribute financially at this time, I ask that you keep me & all involved in The Society in your prayers. That, too, will make a huge difference.
Thanks in advance for your support! I cannot wait to keep you all updated on my progress and the advances being made in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call or email me. I will look forward to hearing from you soon!

Love you all,
Jennifer Pack
